My name is Sophia Rabbideau and I am a freshman majoring in Music Composition at the University of Alabama. Music has always been a major part of my life, and I seek to share this passion with others. I believe that everyone can benefit from studying music and should have that opportunity. Throughout my college career I seek both to develop my skills as a musician and build a community in the industry.
Collaborative music has been central to my education. While I began studying classical piano as a solo instrument, I have since played numerous duets and ensembles with others, which provided me with the foundation for later collaborations. I went on to play the drums and sing in numerous bands throughout high school. I also had the opportunity to play percussion in the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO) which allowed me to work with nearly 70 different musicians as we explored a variety of classical pieces.
Today, I strive to put my best effort into the music that I create. I am fascinated with scoring to picture and music in the film industry. This ties in with one of my other main interests: creative writing. I seek to tell meaningful stories through both my music and writing. I compose primarily electronic and hybrid music, seeking to create new and interesting blends.
